It was our very great privilege to install a series of fire doors at a school for severely disabled children which was named after the world famous scientist Professor Stephen Hawking.
The Stephen Hawking School in Tower Hamlets, London, required extra wide fire doors to be installed to allow for specialist equipment to pass along corridors.
The equipment, used to support pupils manage their disabilities, was easier to move between different parts of the school through the installation of wider fire doors.
Fire safety is naturally a priority at the school to keep the children and staff out of danger in the event of a blaze.
Our accredited fire door fitters were delighted to win the contract to install the equipment at the school.
RP Carpentry’s UKAS accredited fire door installers fitted a large number of doors throughout the specially adapted building.
Fire door frame fire-stopping material was also installed to add an additional safety feature to the doors themselves, in accordance with Building Regulations governing such premises.
All our fire door fitting complies with Building Regulations and our certification watchdog’s rules.
As certified fire door installers, our work is constantly monitored to see that we are following strict safety protocols.
Our compliance and ongoing accreditation mean we regularly win big contracts with major infrastructure providers to install fire doors in public sector buildings.
While some of the Stephen Hawking School doors were wider than standard fire doors, the installation process followed the same manufacturing and fitting protocols.
RP Carpentry’s MD Roger O’Gorman said: ‘We were delighted to be able to help at this school which provides such excellent facilities for the pupils.
‘The fire doors we fitted here will keep all staff and children as safe as possible in the event of a fire at the school. Fire doors save lives. This was a challenging project to work on but our experienced fire door fitters did an excellent job in making the school that much safer.’
